| BkVII:16.III.5 | The ego is not, properly speaking, a being, but an idea about your being. An idea cannot by itself come to life, nor produce any effect. Remember that in order for ideas to be able to manifest themselves and cause some effect, they must join the will, which is possible only if you give yourself completely to them. Since your true will is one with God’s will, it is impossible for your will to be entirely dedicated to an idea far from the truth. What seemed to want an illusion to manifest was not actually your will but simply a wish. Remember that the will does not want; it has. |
